3/18-21/2008 Snowfall: Initial Estimates

#1 Postby donsutherland1 » Tue Mar 18, 2008 1:15 pm

To date, Ottawa has received 163.9" (416.3 cm) of snow. That is just below the figure to date for Winter 1970-71 in which a record 174.8" (444.1 cm) fell. Then, Ottawa had received 169.6" (430.8 cm). Meanwhile, in Maine, Caribou has received 171.7" snow for Winter 2007-08. That is just below that city's record seasonal snowfall of 181.1" set during Winter 1954-55. During that record winter, Caribou had received 162.9" snow through March 17.

Both cities are in line for accumulations that should add to their totals. There is a chance that Caribou could be very close to its seasonal record by the time the snow stops falling late on Friday.

Initial Estimates:
Burlington: 2"-4"
Caribou: 5"-10"
Montreal: 3"-6" (7.6 cm-15.2 cm)
Ottawa: 3"-6" (7.6 cm-15.2 cm)
Toronto: 1"-3" (2.5 cm-7.6 cm) -- mainly during the backlash of the event
