Cell moving into Arlington is heading over the middle of the metroplex. That should do it for the airport.

Not much going on out in the eastplex. Certainly no thundersleet. Temp is up to 32 as well.

Re: Texas Winter 2022-2023
While sitting outside my sons school waiting to get him here in north Fort Worth, snow started mixing into the sleet. Didn’t see that coming today.

I'll preface this with I guess I haven't paid much attention to it before but how uncommon is it to have PWATs approaching/exceeding 1.3 in subfreezing air?

Got down to 32.5 at my house in SE Austin, now 33.4. I agree with Porta that it seems the slide has stopped. We will see if there's any additional impetus to knock us down below freezing. If not, we may be in the very coldest of the cold rain while staying liquid.

thin layer of ice already covering cars, and elevated surfaces across DFW area. Just had a pretty good little sleet shower come through.

Flizzard in Grapevine! Has the column cooled enough to get snow flurries? Apparently so

I noticed that on the edges of the heavier sleet. Some flakes would mix in.

Some people have been transitioning to sleet and mixes of snow so I would assume it’s possible. 30 degree Freezing rain coming down decent now. Cars and some surfaces developing icicles

Summer's for hibernation, Winter’s my vacation
Please don't use my posts as forecast, I'm a complete meteorology noob! I just like cold weather, alright?

I think we'll be stuck in the 32F-35F range for the majority of this event in Longview. Might briefly dip below freezing tomorrow morning or Wednesday morning.

Re: Texas Winter 2022-2023
Seems to me the dominant precip type has been sleet and not freezing rain, which is a good thing. Now with tomorrow being the heaviest precip day, I am wondering if we get more of a sleet/snow mix?

This is what I am wondering. Could have implications for the rest of the event.

Currently being inundated by teachers as I'm the de facto meteorologist for the school. Grass is turning white; sidewalk is covered in sleet.
Not a good look for my school district right now.
