#1 Postby vbhoutex » Sat Oct 11, 2003 2:47 pm

I received this report through Weather Matrix which I am a member of.

RECORD EVENT REPORT
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE FAIRBANKS AK
135 AM ADT FRI OCT 10 2003

...WARMEST OCTOBER WEEK EVER IN FAIRBANKS...

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE DURING THE FIRST SEVEN DAYS THIS MONTH
AT THE FAIRBANKS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT WAS 51.1 DEGREES. THIS IS
THE WARMEST WEEK IN OCTOBER IN NEARLY A CENTURY OF WEATHER
OBSERVATIONS. THE NEXT WARMEST WEEK IN OCTOBER WAS OCTOBER 17
TO 23 IN 1938...WHEN THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE WAS 48.4 DEGREES.

BY COMPARISON...THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE DURING THE FIRST WEEK
OF OCTOBER IS ABOUT 33 DEGREES.

Wonder if we need to change our Winter weather outlooks??? :o :?: :?: :?:

Not changing mine at all.................For one that would indicate a huge ridge there and as most know when that happens you end up with a trough farther south and east...........(Midwest/NE)...........(Which btw is about to happen this week comming up).....................To be honest this is pretty much on par with my winter outlook which does show AK having some above normal temps............

Either way expect it to even cool down there some this week!
Take that to the bank! LOL

I wouldn't change it either... in fact this seems to be an indication of what is to come...

In otherwords an even stronger trough coming in behind that ridge?? Are we setting up for Indian summer going right into an early winter pattern?
