Winter Weather Summary
POSTED: November 17, 2003 8:04 a.m.

Heavy snow, wind in the Northwest, Rockies..
By Accuweather.com Meteorologist Kathy Francis
A strong jet feeding into the Pacific Northwest and a trough swinging through the Rockies will mean quite a bit of snow for the high mountains primarily. Over the next 12-24 hours, 6-12 inches of new snow will pile up over the Washington and Oregon Cascades. A few inches will fall in the Siskiyous and the northern Sierra of California.
Six to twelve inches of new snow will fall over the Bitterroots, the high mountains of western Montana, western Wyoming and north central Colorado. Several inches will accumulate over the somewhat lower elevations in western Montana, northern Idaho, western Wyoming, central Colorado, as well as the mountains of Utah; snow levels almost down to 4,000 feet.
Wind will be a factor in the Rockies as well, with gusts to at least 40 mph.

Glad to see someone in the U.S. is getting wintry weather! Plus it is very cold in Alaska too. But I think the eastern U.S. will avoid the truly cold weather until at least early December.
