Bloomin' trees???

#1 Postby azsnowman » Wed Dec 03, 2003 7:42 am

While out in the field working yesterday, we came across native Cottonwoods, Sycamores, Black Walnuts, ALL of them are in full bloom  :?: :?: :?: A sign that this so called coming winter is over before it even starts? I'm afraid so, I've never seen trees do this, the trees, for all intents and purposes JUST dropped their leafs less than 2 weeks ago and now the new growth.....a very strange thing indeed!

Azsonwman,

I have seen that happen before twice, back in 98' in mid Feb. we had a week of very warm weather with highs reaching the upper 80's only to loose the new growth a week later when highs dropped back down to the lower 50's to upper 40's. The other time I can recall was a few years earlier in early Dec. we saw a week of upper 70's and all the trees and bushes started to leaf out.

It didn't last.... 8-)

After hurricane Lili in early october 2002, most trees were stripped of all their leaves. Well about a week later they started blooming again and there was alot of foliage until we got our first big freeze. The trees just get tricked sometimes by mother nature, I wouldn't worry too much about it, I'm sure you'll still have a winter
