Check out this thread I have ...

Yes, there is POTENTIAL ... remember the PDS storm? Remember just how CAD (cold air damming) saw the big temperature swing from the 70's into the 20's/30's the next day? This go-around the temperature swing won't be as fast BUT a gradual turning colder, and the model guidance and the overall pattern seem to support a suppressed storm track late this week/weekend.

Coordinations with the NC offices hinting at the wintry threat this weekend as well...

LONG RANGE MODELS INDICATE UPR TROF DVLPG ACRS THE CNTRL U.S. AND
SFC LOW DVLPMT ACRS THE NRN GLFMX TWD THE END OF THE WEEK. WILL NEED
TO WATCH THE EVOLUTION OF THESE SYSTEMS AS AMS MSTR INCRS ACRS THE
AREA FM THE S INTO THE WEEKEND AS THE SFC LOW DVLPS TO OUR S AND
TRACKS NEWD OFF THE SE CST. CURRENTLY MODELS SUGGEST THAT THE AMS
MAY RMN COLD ENUF FOR WINTRY TYPE PRECIP.
FOR NOW WILL HAVE CHCS OF
LIQUID PRECIP ONLY STARTING FRI AND CONTG INTO THE UPCOMING
WEEKEND.
