Jan 12-14....

#1 Postby Colin » Mon Jan 05, 2004 3:05 pm

OK...there IS a chance of a storm during this time. But IMO it will be FAR from a historic snowstorm...and I'm having a feeling that it probably won't even get into the "significant" category.

Sorry but I'm not thinking there will be much of a storm during this time...there might be; but it'll be far from major MUCH less historic.

of course since you know nothing about weather or patterns and truly have no idea of what your talking about and that its still 10 days out, im guessing that this is just a guess or a post to piss people off. Which is it?

neither, he's looking to get someone to post a reply about how it has implications of being major to satisy his weenie mentality.

i think DT would be the first to tell you on a science board..an opinion without a reason is a waste of time. Weather isnt an emotion....its a science. Dosent take much guts to predict a non event does it Colin.

ok, give us a rundown of why you don't see it being major at this point. are you that blind not to see that the pattern is a very good setup for a major snowstorm??

what are you talking about d?

a Postive PNA and strong NEG NAO with cold air in place is a terrible setup for a storm.

Exactly. Notice he doesn't do this on WWBB because he knows what the outcome will be. On the other hand, he posts it here because 99% of the time, someone will come on and say something like, don't worry, it's still xx days away and things can change or cheer up, there's always a chance, etc.

I don't think anyone was offended, it's just that "feelings" mean nothing in weather forecasting or any science for that matter. It's ok to have a feeling if it is backed up by scientific reasoning. For instance, I have a feeling it will not go below zero here this week while areas to my south will. Why? Because with no ice on the lakes, the air will definitely modify enough to keep it above zero unless we can get the wind to decouple on a clear night.

Son, all I have to say is you are pathetic. My personal opinion is you post this kinda stuff so that you don't get all worked up, then when it is forecasted that you'll get a foot or more of snow your gunna get a weenie high and make posts like "this could be a major/historic storm". Typical weenie stuff.

And since when were they predicting 10-15" at ABE the last storm. I don't think so, 5-10" was the forecast kid. Believe me you haven't offended anyone, you just permanently stamped weenie onto your name. The 4,000 or more posts you've made all consist of "I'm sure the models will change it's a week away" or "I hope you get the snow you want"... now that to me is too funny. If you are even contemplating going to college meteo, you need to grow up, and use reasoning and science instead of your feelings.

This is pretty much why I can't really can't decide on what to say in these more involved weather discussions after all these years following storm systems.

I am glad you're kidding around with him (Colin). Some posts seem ruder than they are.

Kidding or not, Colin's 4,000+ posts include those in off topic discussions and the Fun & Games forum here at Storm2K. :)

BTW, what you quoted me as saying was corrected. Sorry about that.
