Remember during our DEcember snowstorm we were commenting on the extreme variety of reported amounts? Remember the over 20" reported in Riverdale (bronx) vs the central park reading of something like 10"?
Well, I just scanned the Ill. public information site, and contrary to what we had around here, Ive never seen such uniformity of readings. Moreover, Ive never seen so much hoopla over what was essentially a 5 to 6" snowfall! I thought Chicago was buried in snow during most winters, from reactions to this little event, it seems like New York gets more of the white stuff than even the big bad Windy City.. just check these amounts:

Variability of snow reports

Nice observation Goober. The hoopla was on the front end, when the ETA was pumping out 1.25 QPF for ORD. After that, the majority of the "hoopla" was disappointment that the event did not materialize as predicted. It was nice to get some snow, but the reaction could hardly be characterized as "hoopla". It also helps to understand that ORD has been way below average in the snow department for several years now...ie...some excitement probably was generated because storms are so infrequent here lately. I would also point out that I have yet to see anyone, here or at WWBB, flaming any Mets for the marginal bust...a little different than what happens when a storm misses in your fishbowl. When that happens, everybody is out hunting up an appropriate tree to string up the offender. Of course, since you are from New York, it must be odd seeing somebody report actual snow totals as opposed to inflated amounts. So I can understand your surprise at the consistency of reports. I should probably have cut you a break considering your location, but I just couldn't resist responding to your ridiculous post...Have a Nice Day.
