SREF QPF for Wed-Thurs Event

#1 Postby Scott_inVA » Tue Jan 13, 2004 12:46 pm

<time sensitive>
1/14 5Z SREF (suite of 15) prints NOTHING above 0.10" liguid for 24 hours in Mid-Atlantic...EXCEPT: WV and extreme SW PA (PIT) and C-N NJ/Metro NYC...these areas are 0.25" liquid.

IMO, the *only* saving grace for snow bunnies is 48-24 hours out the models have consistently been underdoing QPF.

Last week the GFS (gulp :roll: ) was clear winner in Mid-Atlantic on timing, ptypes and totals (but was a tad low). If one looks to the 12Z GFS today, not a great deal of encouragement there. QPF is up in WV and W VA but this is marginal. And this probably won't be all SN east of the Blue Ridge.
