Next Week

#1 Postby CThomp8806 » Tue Jan 13, 2004 2:37 pm

Have yall seen the GFS for Friday of next week? There looks like a big storm for most of virgina, mostly central (Richmond, Petersburg) and most of North Carolina. I know it is a ways away, but it be cool if it stayed on track like the GFS says... and its coming from the south... that is usually where our biggest snow storms come from.... what do yall think?

How's the temp profile holding up? Aren't we supposed to be having a bit of a warming trend by then?

Once things mild up some, then we have to be wary of not only the storm track, but also of the temperatures.

Hey folks, Just another day in the Mid Atlantic!!!! :)

Thanks for the link :)

We'll need to watch it, but I am somewhat confident of Virginia sitting in seasonable air by that time frame. So if the storm materializes, we will probably see a mixed kind of wintry bag, starting off with a couple inches of snow then changing to frzra/sleet then plain rain.

Another thing about seasonable/not arctic temps: We could see all snow, but then just have to watch it melt in 40s and low 50s weather afterward.

Also bear in mind that pattern retrogression...............We get that ridge here in the East, we'll see mild temps and rainy systems, though the winter will be FAR from over.....................
