JB in today's column drew some comparisons/analogs to the upcoming 10-15 day period with January 1966.

Interesting to note that on January 22, 1966, anywhere from 2 to 9 inches of snow fell on parts of north Texas and then moved east to parts of Dixie.

LOL still too north for me. We need winter precip for the gulf coast and then we can feed the snow geese!

Not gonna happen. All models have completely vacated the premises on bringing arctic air next week and maybe the rest of the winter. Sorry, no snow for us here in the South this winter.

Actually models are still somewhat a mess with next weeks potential. Something is coming in mid-next week, just don't know how strong or exactly when. The potential is still there for arctic air to filter in.

Johnny is right. The models are so divergent that the only real clues with where our forecast is lies with reading the patterns right now.

The models will not help, especially the error prone GFS.

Ok, as now, models are pointing at a cooling trend next week. It looks more like Canadien air than arctic. What a friggin' roller coaster ride!!! :eek:

I think most models are in agreement with colder air filtering but don't have a clue yet on how cold. That's the bottom line.

Two excerpts from a local forecaster at KFDM here in Beaumont:

COLD WEATHER TO RETURN NEXT WEEK AS WELL! QUESTION IS WILL THE PRECIP AND COLD COME TOGETHER?

Arctic air will once again move into the area by Tuesday night of next week. An upper level disturbance will move into the area by Wednesday of next week. We'll have to wait and see exactly how cold and how much precip will be associated with the system. Cold Times Ahead!
