Interesting Pattern this winter........ :)

#1 Postby Anonymous » Wed Jan 21, 2004 9:00 pm

All I had to do was adjust my expectations just a bit.......................and I am enjoying this winter. True........we don't have any snow..............but ya just have to look around to see the things which are there.

I went on another jebwalk today. Our high was 29, after a low of 12. The predicted high today was 32. Hmmmm..............

Anyway, I noticed some interesting things during my jebwalk this afternoon. It was a 2-mile jebwalk, in 27 degree conditions.

We have a saturated ground that then froze. The last storm we had gave us an inch of rain, which pooled on the grass. Then the arctic front hit and all the water froze solid.

I was sliding on the grass. There are places on the grass which are two inches deep in ice, from water standing on the saturated then frozen ground then freezing thus creating an ice sheet on the grass, which I enjoyed sliding on!!!!! :)

WOW................Ice in the grass. That must have cut a surreal sight......people seeing me slid on the frozen ground in the grass. That ice was easily 2 inches thick.

Some of our local bodies of water have ice 3 inches thick on them.......I walked on it VERY VERY CLOSE TO SHORE!!! I had some friends with me on the shore lest I fall in and require assistance!!! I was only a foot or two off the shore on that ice. I was very very cautious folks.

We have no snow folks and I foresee none throughout this winter here.........but I have some cool weather, and I do have my ICE. Man I have been sliding around and having a good time!!! Can't say I didn't have a good winter..........But I hope to see snow once more before I am an old man rocking on the porch reading the news lol.
