what happened to noreasters?

what happened to noreasters?

I thought these things happened every year. What classifies a winter storm as a noreaster...I know they cause severe coastal flooding. Was the superstorm of 93 one? blizzard of 96? Anything we've had in the past few years classified as one? Even the storm we got in jan 25th of 2000?
