I-95 Region mon/tue,tue/wed ?

#1 Postby Anonymous » Sat Jan 31, 2004 1:27 pm

Mount Holly is talking that there might be all frozen or mostly freezing precip for the region. I have heard from NBC 10, , that it will be snow to mix to rain to snow, and they have "delayed the storm" in there exact words until tuesday night and wednesday? I'm confused

POSSIBLE ICE STORM
...A WINTER STORM IS POSSIBLE MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY...

THE PARADE OF STORMS CONTINUES THIS WINTER, AND CURRENT INDICATIONS
ARE SHOWING THIS TREND YET AGAIN FOR MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY.

HIGH PRESSURE THAT BROUGHT THE CURRENT ROUND OF COLD WEATHER WILL
MOVE TO NEW ENGLAND THROUGH MONDAY WHILE LOW PRESSURE IS FORECAST TO
DEVELOP OVER TEXAS SUNDAY AND HEAD NORTHEAST. ONCE THE LOW REACHES
THE GREAT LAKES AREA...A SECONDARY LOW SHOULD FORM OVER NORTH
CAROLINA. THIS SECOND LOW WILL THEN INTENSIFY AND HEAD NORTHEAST
ALONG THE COAST.

COLD AIR IS EXPECTED TO REMAIN ACROSS MOST OF THE REGION AS MOISTURE
MOVES IN FROM THE SOUTHWEST MONDAY NIGHT.

THERE IS STILL UNCERTAINTY AS TO THE EXACT TRACK OF THESE LOWS.
HOWEVER AT THIS TIME, A WINTRY MIX OF PRECIPITATION IS POSSIBLE
MONDAY NIGHT AND TUESDAY. WITH THE CURRENT PROJECTED STORM TRACK,
A GOOD PORTION OF THE REGION COULD SEE FREEZING RAIN...SLEET AND SNOW
MONDAY NIGHT INTO TUESDAY AND THERE IS THE POSSIBILITY OF AN ICE
STORM. TO THE SOUTH AND EAST OF PHILADELPHIA...ENOUGH WARM AIR MAY
MOVE IN FROM THE OCEAN TO ALLOW THE PRECIPITATION TO CHANGE TO PLAIN
RAIN ON TUESDAY.

LATER FORECASTS WILL BE ABLE TO MORE PRECISELY DETERMINE THE TYPE AND
AMOUNT OF PRECIPITATION.

STAY TUNED TO NOAA WEATHER RADIO OR YOUR LOCAL MEDIA OUTLETS FOR
FURTHER UPDATES ON THIS DEVELOPING STORM.

Looks like snow to rain SE New England as storm tracks almost due north from Virginia coast. Should still be mainly snow and ice west and central PA with more liquid closer to Philly. Still time for models to shift track further east next several runs. Cold air will be retreating though for this storm so more North than NE track should result.

It's possible...but it looks like rain may be an even bigger concern for the 5-7th storm.

what about rain for your area Colin, I'm shore you think that every storm brings rain to the coast and 50-100 miles inland, it's 6+. No offense of coarse.

No, actually I'm thinking mainly a mix/rain here as well.
