tue wed storm will be more east track than what models show

#1 Postby blizzard20 » Sat Jan 31, 2004 2:53 pm

The models don't handle the cold and snow pack well so will force the storm more east track . The low will track from delware area to cape cod no inland track. Snow/ice for SNE area except the cape cod area and se mass which will have ice then rain.

read Hpc discussion .below its saying its less likely for coast areas north of Va area to change to rain next week storm.

EASTERN CONUS...
TWO FAIRLY SIMILAR EVENTS THIS PERIOD WITH FIRST DAYS 2-3
MON-TUES AND SECOND END OF WEEK DAYS 5-6 THU-FRI. SHORTWAVES
EJECTING FROM THE SRN PLAINS LOWER MS VALLEY INTO THE OH AND
OR TN VALLEY WHILE REFORMING ALONG THE SERN COASTAL WARM
FRONT THEN MOVING NEWD AND DEEPENING OFF THE NEW ENG COAST.
RAIN SOUTHEAST AND MOST OF THE MID ATLC REGION WITH A MIXED
OR SNOW ONSET UPPER MID ATLC ESPECIALLY APPLCHNS AND
PIEDMONT WHERE LOW LEVEL COLD AIR LIKELY TO REMAIN DAMMED
IN. INTERIOR NORTHEAST TO REMAIN AS SNOW WHILE COASTAL
NORTHEAST WILL LIKELY START FROZEN WITH POSSIBLE CHANGE
BECOMING LESS LIKELY AS SYSTEM PROGRESSES FARTHER UP THE
COAST. SECOND SHORTWAVE APPEARS TO BE A NEAR REPEAT OF THE
FIRST ALBEIT WEAKER AT THE MID LEVELS ON THU/FRI. AMBIENT
VERY COLD AIR IN PLACE WITH MODELS INSISTING ON FAIRLY
STRONG WARM ADVECTION WILL MAKE SOME PCPN TYPE AND TIMING OF
ANY TYPE CHANGES DIFFICULT WITH BOTH OF THESE SYSTEMS
ESPECIALLY ALONG THE COASTAL PLAIN VA NWD.

Maybe...I'm still expecting mainly rain/mix east of the Apps, unless this storm really begins to trend east...which it might.

Keep the faith.

If I can not have snow............................

Then I will be content with FREEZING RAIN! :)

As long as we do not get plain rain I will be happy!!!

Bring the Snow; If not then Freezing Rain accumulating 1 to 1.5 inches of solid ice will be peachy :) A little sleet mixed in would add some spice to the storm :)
