Snow accumulations in Texas...where should I go?

#1 Postby Johnny » Fri Feb 13, 2004 2:04 pm

I just got a reply e-mail from Frank Billingsley down at KPRC in Houston and he said that he had a viewer call in just North of College Station and the ground was white with a snow/sleet mix. Wow!! Also, I have heard on the radio that the accumulating area could push all the way down to Tomball overnight tonight and into tomorrow. Not sure on this one yet.

I plan on seeing some snow and taking my family with me. We plan on staying overnight somewhere but where should I go? I want to stay withing 3 hours of the Conroe area which I think is plenty for getting into some snow. I hear that Coriscana and up that way could see anywhere from 2 to 4 inches of snow and maybe even 5.
My question is, which direction should I go and where will the heaviest snowfall be?

My mom lives down in Buda TX. I am very jealous. N VA is having a very mild, milquetoast February and Central TX is enjoying major winter weather!!

I am so desperate for a snow jebwalk that I am thinking of catching a flight down there...........

That would be a blast jebwalking in Austin, TX bent over against the blowing snowflakes!!! WOW!!! That would be absolutely SURREAL!! With my mom begging me not to obsess too much on the snow and me mumbling something about worshiping the coming thermohaline shutdown!! I would be digging genuine Texas snow! I would give those Texans a genuine edumacation (sp) on how to dig that snow!!!! I'd dig Austin out myself!!! Three inches of snow/sleet ain't nothin'!!! :)

My friends down there told me last April when I was down there visiting Mom, about how Austin got sleet last winter and there were cars on the sides of roads all over the place. But then, there are some folks up here in N VA who simply have no idea whatsoever of how to drive safely in snow.

They panic, and all heck breaks loose.

I stay off the road because of them!!

Numerous reports of accumulating snow between Houston and Dallas. The next system is on it's way.
