One last chance for us snow lovers...

#1 Postby Cheesy_Poofs » Sun Feb 29, 2004 8:38 am

One last chance for us snow lovers....

HM is saying the threat of a SECL/MECL for March 9-12th is still on.

GFS also shows this... ( YES, I know it's the GFS and it's far out.)

The 00z Sunday GGEM also has an interesting look by Day 10 with an intense 500mb low over the southeast... this particular run looks to be an inland runner, but something to watch nonetheless if you're still hoping for winter's final blast.

Well lets see what the models say within 5days of actuall storm time. I for one wouldnt mind the inland track but perhaps about another 100 miles or so further to the west on that ggem. But untill then its just something to keep a eye on.

Like Colin i am gonna enjoy this nice 60 degrees day!

I see one more snow event coming to our area as well.

I don't think it will be as the gifs show above though.

I think one or two more inches and then it will be over for the most part Harry. :)

Still think one, possibly two decent snow events remain for the NE. Cold should return for the NE next week, but will be in and out as per usual for March. The Lion of March may roar before its over. But I'm with many of you; bring on summer and the tropics!!

what I humbly think

#8 Postby paulvogel » Mon Mar 01, 2004 2:30 pm

here in Alexandria Va, I think between mar 9 and 12 it will at sometime look like a fcst of snow wil be reasonable.
But I humbly think that some flakes at the beginning of a rainstorm is what we will see.

Very little chatter on the site the last two days :?: 12Z GFS showing somewhat below normal temps next week with a couple of chances of snow in the NE. UKMET the clear outlier with the coastal, but there will be a few opportunities for decent snow. Surprised nobody posting.....heck......I'm in Florida and the pattern looks interesting 8-)

I think everyone's just taking a break from the last storm . LOL We'll see how this looks in the days ahead. I'm sure if the models keep this pattern as a trend the chatter will increase :-)

Steve, I'm mentally in Spring mode now. Today is just BEAUTIFUL! I'm seeing more and more robin each day. I know that it's only March 3, but I think I'll be depressed if I see anymore snow. Next week it is supposed to cool down into the 40's for us.

I agree. I woulden't be depressed if we were to get another snowstorm, but I'm ready for some severe thunderstorms...bring on spring!

:D   8-)

There are currently basically two areas of snow....

Across the entire state of Minnesota/most of Wisconsin (mix across southern Wisconsin), eastern Washington,
northern Idaho and eastern Oregon and at the Oregon/California/Nevada border.

I suppose we could see a storm for mid March.......but the weather is wonderful here in N VA with highs averaging in the low 70s and one night it did not get below 55 degrees!!!

Trees are budding, robins are flying around and the grass is sprouting!! My daffodils are coming up all over the place!!! :)

Nice pics!! Yeah that snow really tugs on my heart, but Spring is coming early and with a major vengeance this year!! We are already beginning to experience pollen issues here, can you believe it? LOL!!

I really love those pics, and my heart aches for a nice snowy jebwalk in that snow, to the tune of Billy Joel's "Allentown" over my CD headphones, but the coming spring says otherwise. We could get a March snow but I do not think it will be this year. It's getting really warm out there!! I nearly burned the back of my arm in my overheated car the other day!!

Spring has definitely SPRUNG in north Virginia, and I think it's just gonna keep on keeping on. Sure it will get a little chilly with some drizzly mizzly rain per the usual back-door cold fronts through early May, but this is NO 1993 Superstorm year.

There's always 2025. Or maybe next winter........

Might as well enjoy spring!!! :)

Enjoy your snow! I think spring is here to stay in Virginia. It'll get chilly a few more times, but we'll stay well above normal into summer, then summer is going to be super, super hot and dry, dry, dry. You enjoy your winter, and we'll enjoy our spring/summer LOL! :)
