This potential last hurrah for winter is completely falling apart down my way... temperature has actually risen to 49F over the past hour, and the 00z ETA is coming in significantly warmer and farther north. Year after year, we see the same theme... you can't ignore the seasonal trend, even if it seems irrational. Last year, we saw storm after storm, and everything turned out as well or better than forecast. This year, nothing has turned out as well as forecast for us in the central Mid Atlantic, and this looks to be a continuation of that. Recent years are either hit or miss, it seems, with very little middle ground.

Oh well, time for miserable cold rain with highs in the mid 30's... I would say bring on spring, but the Euro is showing continued troughing in the East through Day 10... yipee.

Well, we had a big burst of snow starting at around 7:00 am. at my house. When I left at around 7:40 it was mixing with sleet, but from what I understand, the snow is still coming down up there. Driving south to Atlantic City I rode through mostly sleet and then all rain the closer I got to the coast.

Dayton Metro Check In

#15 Postby meso_jr » Tue Mar 16, 2004 9:53 am

Hi all....this snowstorm really suprised me. I was too busy tending with personal issues, one of them being finals! I was on my way to a doctor's appointment yesterday morning and th ppl on the radio said that the area was under a winter storm watch for freezing rain, sleet, and snow- up to 6". Well, right now at 9:50 am we have 6" on the ground at Wright Patterson Air Force Base just north of the city of Dayton. The weather guys down here say that we can get 2" today, with another 1" or so tomorrow. Grand total if maximum is realized: 9". That is impressive for March 16-17th in Dayton (we were already getting leaves and flowers!). Our total for the season until today was only 11", so this new storm almost doubled our total. Pretty cool... I am kind of hoping that this will be the last blast until November... yesterday was 51 degrees, sunny with warm breezes. Today, I had to shovel off my car. Oh well...enjoy this fling we call spring!

Well i think 5 inches may end up being the total for here. Grrrrrr. So much for my biggest storm of the year. Oh well atleast i dont have to eat the crow as i did not break the 6 inch mark. Anyways its nice to look at atleast.

Still have some light snow falling but should be ending anytime now. This has really fallen apart out this way and rather quick.
