Florida.. Snow Birds... Real Birds...

#1 Postby chadtm80 » Tue Dec 07, 2004 12:20 pm

Boy Oh Boy 84 here in central Florida today.. The snow birds are coming down in droves.. December in the 80's YUK!!! I have also noticed many many many more flocks of birds heading into the state.. No stop pods of them.. Watch for falling ........

Never fear though my fellow Floridian friends.. The Jet stream will be taking a dip and sending some colder weather our way and should stay longer then the 2 day cool downs we are use to ;-) Suppose to be 65 for a high at my house saturday.. Ill take it!

Chad, if you, Jen and Dustin though want to see any measurable snowfall you may have to take a trip to around the north GA mountains!! :D

Eric,

I don't think he will need to go as far north as the GA mountains. If things come together next week, the Atlanta area could see some snow. Possibly a couple chances of snow before Christmas. I'm looking forward to it!! :D

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

I saw the mention of "flakes" in the N. GA mountains in the long-term discussion earlier tonight, but it made no mention of Atlanta.

How good is this looking for us?

From earlier:

http://www.srh.noaa.gov/ffc/html/afd.php?pil=FFCAFDFFC&version=1

.LONG TERM...
AFTER THURSDAY...DRIER AND COOLER PATTERN SETS IN. LARGE SCALE TROUGHING...CLOSED LOW SCENARIO SETS UP ACROSS THE EASTERN UNITED STATES FOR THE WEEKEND. SHORTWAVE ENERGY ROTATING THROUGH MEAN TROUGH AND 1305 THICKNESS LINE INTO CENTRAL GA MAY EVEN SUPPORT OUTSIDE CHANCE FOR SOME FLAKES SATURDAY MORNING IN THE FAR NORTHEAST GA MTNS...BETTER CHANCE IN NORTH CAROLINA MTNS. SECONDARY COLD FRONT SWINGS THROUGH SUNDAY NIGHT USHERING IN MUCH COLDER AIR MONDAY AND TUESDAY WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES POSSIBLY STRUGGLING TO GET OUT OF THE 40S.

Chad,

Yesterday a huge flock of white pelicans descended on our lake here in Central FL....the first of the year.

The other kind, the snowbirds, have been arriving for a month, as evidenced by the horrible I-4 traffic.

OOO I despise I-4! I refuse to drive on that road, especially in December.

We will see what this weekend has to offer, right now its a toasty 72 and its only 8:30
