COLD Louisiana This Evening at 7:00 PM...

#1 Postby Sean in New Orleans » Tue Dec 14, 2004 8:45 pm

Chilly evening in Louisiana...looking at these 7:00 temps, almost all of us should easily expect a freeze...And it's so easy to detect where the breeze and winds are still occurring and where they have already died down....

Well, as of 9:00, it's freezing in Slidell (suburban New Orleans)...I think they'll be at or below freezing for 12 hours...it's winter time in the South! :P

All Aboard the Arctic Express!

#4 Postby LAwxrgal » Tue Dec 14, 2004 11:44 pm

33 degrees at 10:42 PM in Reserve. :jacket: They forecast our low to be 31, I expect the temp to go down at least a couple more degrees, about 28 or 27.

So do I...temperatures have been dropping at a more rapid pace in the last couple of hours...Central and Northern Louisiana are already in the mid 20's right now...as winds decrease in S. Louisiana the temperature will plummet, IMO...It's already in the upper 20's in many areas of St. Tammany Parish.

Suppose to have another front coming through early next week - they said colder than this one. Oh, well, I guess it makes it feel like Christmas!!!

Recorded a low of 20 degrees this morning in rural Washington Parish. We're in the middle of no where up here. Hate to see what next weeks front brings, as it is advertized to be even stronger! :thermo: :jacket:

from wwl.com

NOT THE BEST NIGHT TO LOSE POWER

On the coldest night so far of the season, some people on the North Shore were without power for a few hours last night.

Ann Jenkins with CLECO says an equipment problem in Mandeville shortly after midnight cut off electricity, but their crews restored most of it in short order: “The guys went out and did what we call switching, and got most of the customers back on by 3:00, and the five that remained without power were back on by 6:00 a.m.”

We also had power problems last night.. Entergy in Washington parish had many customers without power. Ours went off at 1:00 am and did not come back on until 7:20 this morning. Luckily we have gas heat.....

What's the latest on the week of Christmas for Louisiana? Any changes - colder or warmer? Is the stronger arctic blast still predicted to be arriving?

24 - that hibernating weather!! According to Channel 4 - the pattern has been set for the next couple of weeks for lows in the low 30's, highs in the 40s or 50s!!
