Well this is kinda funny, the weather service has just put rain and snow showers in the forecast for next Friday. High 49, Low 42, with a 30%.

Of course the weather leading up to this event is going to be in the upper 70's. I just have to wonder what is real and what is not.

looks like a small and fast intrusion of arctic air around the 6th-7th. Not sure where they are getting the moisture from as the GFS is bone dry. Probably will be cold and maybe even a little colder than currently forecast by Thursday and Firday of next week, but warming begins by Saturday.

This is new in the GFS guidance as it has been keeping the cold air damed in the central plains, but now drops a small blast southward behind a central US storm system.
