Lawrence now in Winter Weather Advisory
The NWS weather service out of Topeka has just extended the winter weather advisory to include Douglas County for tonight for periods of freezing rain-our temp. has been slowly dropping from 34.5 for the past 2 hours-we are now at 32.5 and still going down!! Would not be surprised to see Winter Storm Watches posted for Wednesday either. The new gfs really blows this thing up over me and supports the idea of significant ice and about 2-3 inches of snow Wed. into Thursday. The eta has us in a significant ice storm for that period. I think we will see rain, fr. rain. and then snow and this area will be an absolute mess esp. since this will be the first real winter storm of the season-I mean 10 hours ago it was 61 dgrees!!!! Let the games begin!! One note: the models, all of them, busted terribly for today-I mean terribly-as late as the 18z runs were just horrible. I think with the cold air the way it is, the best bet might be to watch temps., sat. imagery and radars to see what will come-the modles will most likely flip flop 3 or 4 more times between nown and Wednesday-accept the euro which has had the southern track the whole time, but is having touble with temps. We shall see!
