I've raised Saint Louis Metro East under Snow/sleet Advisory

#1 Postby Gothpunk-IL-WX » Fri Jan 07, 2005 8:18 pm

Based on Radar Trends and Precipation profiles and Lowering temperatures Now down to the freezing mark, Ive Now Places Saint Louis, MO and the Surrounding metro area under a Snow/Sleet Advisory until 1AM CST, this is NOT an accual warning from the National Weather Service, but I believe that That may soon possibly change. Expect Light sleet and or Freezing Rain to turn over to snow very soon and fall at a heavy rate for up to 2-3 hours before it breaks and another last round comes in from the south, southwest and brings another short round of snow for another snow or so. flurries and or sleet pellets will be dominate between shields. Snowfall accumulations may approach 3-5 inches in spots before all is said an done with at least a good covering of 2 inches very likely. Sleet and Freezing Rain may accumulate upto 2/10ths of an inch before changing to snow. The Precipation should come to an end by 3-4am if not sooner with flurries till early morning or 6-8 AM with no addition accumulations. Be careful on the roads and sidewalks, as untreated roads and sidewalks may becomes slippery and or snowcovered causing hazardous driving conditions, and possibly hazardous walking conditions in spots. Roads should improve by noon Saturday as temperatures rise well above freezing.

Short Term Forecast:

A mixture of Rain, Freezing Rain, Sleet, and even a few Snow flurries will contiune till 8:30-9:00PM CST, before turning to all frozen varity precipation with snow and sleet being the most predominate. Due to the strengthing status of the system and radar trends as well as slowly falling temperatures, pockets of Heavy snow will be possible until 11PM before breaking and becoming more light to moderate in nature before Ending shortly after midnight, and around 1AM for the metro east areas and points eastward. up to one quarter inch of Freezing rain and sleet is possible before changing into snow, and accumulating another 2-4 inches with possible amounts upto 5-6 inches in heavier burst Mostly on Grassy surfaces, but as temperatures fall and roads begin to freeze around midnight with a light coating of snow and ice possible on the roads. Travel may become trecherous so take extra time to reach your Location.
