recap of Wed nite event

#1 Postby Dave C » Thu Jan 20, 2005 10:04 am

Well, we had a lot of forecasters playing "catch-up" with last nites system. Occasionally heavy snow fell in my general area from 7pm-midnite and when the last flakes fell by dawn today we had nearly 5 inches total. Most forecasters were going with 1-2 inches but were caught of guard by unusual ocean enhancement from the winds coming off the waters to our south. Milder air worked into Cape Cod bringing them above freezing and mixing rain with the snow. The area between Boston and Cape Cod did best from this event. Here's totals from NWS

Yup. That's "official" now amounts. I'd say more like the full 5" here. On top of the snow from the last storm that did not melt because of the cold. We look like the proverbial picture postcard this morning.

What do you think for the weekend storm?
