BLIZZARD WARNING FOR NYC AND LONG ISLAND

#1 Postby WXBUFFJIM » Fri Jan 21, 2005 4:19 pm

This is a dangerous and life threatening situation for NYC and the Long Island and Staten Island area. Folks in this vicinity after midday Saturday MUST stay off the roads unless it's an absolute emergency in which case you much rather would have 911 gain the upper hand on that. Stay off the roads Saturday afternoon through Sunday in the tristate, this is a serious and potentially deadly situation if you do travel in this.

Looks like it to me also. But with the strong winds, drifts could be much higher than that 15 inches. Also another threat be coastal flooding with the strong northeast winds sustained at 40-45 mph with gusts of 60-70 mph possible. This would result in moderate to borderlined significant coastal flooding at the time of high tide from the Jersey shore northward through Cape Cod Saturday night into Sunday.

With Blizzard Warnings already in effect in Michigan, it does look very likely that a powerful Nor-Easter is in the cards. Winter Weather Advisory in my area, however Winter Storm Warnings are in effect just north of here.

Yea there is even blizzard warnings up for western Minnesota right now. Just another indication that as powerful as this thing is now, it will only get worse, MUCH WORSE for the mid atlantic and northeast coastal United States.

Make it a safe one and don't underestimate the power of water because it will be one angry son of a gun tomorrow night and sunday morning with gale force sustained winds of 35-45 mph and gusts to storm force 60-65 mph.

All of Long Island is under a blizzard warning also, definitely one classic blizzard there.

Head inside once the very heavy snow comes in, you do not want to be outside during the heavy snow, strong winds will cause visibilities to drop possibly near zero, dangerous wind chills possible.

Yes....

I'm going to get close tomorrow night. Heavy snow bursts expected in Gatlinburg tomorrow evening with strong winds. Not quite a full-fledged blizzard, but as close as it gets down here.

Heres the first wave of energy right now-two hours off,and its not just virga, just as I had predicted:

I am not trying to make myself attract attention here by my information, but I just want the board to know that I am a very serious study, and not to make myself look like a sawed-off nut or something.

We are going to get slammed.15-24 Isay in the corridor I outlined in my map.
