winter storm warnings and advisories hoisted!!

Watches and advisories have been upgraded to warnings or advisories this morning and they are flying out to the press rather quickly. A winter storm warning is now up for all of northern Maryland including the cities and communities of Baltimore, Belair, Fredrick, Hagerstown and Cumberland. Expect 3-7 inches of snow in Baltimore and Harford County and 3-6 inches in Baltimore City. I still expect 2-4 inches of snow in Carroll County and Fredrick County point west because they will change over to mixed precip a bit sooner, yet they could see significant ice accumulation to out west.

Further south into the Washington DC, BWI, and Annapolis corridor, a winter weather advisory has been hoisted for later tonight for 2-4 inches of snow followed by a tenth of an inch of ice on top of that later tonight.

Up in Pennsylvania winter weather advisories and or winter storm watches that were issued have been upgraded to winter storm warnings. This includes the city of Harrisburg and York where 4-8 inches of snow is expected tonight and Philadelphia where 3-6 inches of snow is expected overnight. A winter storm watch is in effect for the new york City area later tonight into Monday where 4-6" is expected, less in Long Island, more into the Hudson Valley. Also expecting a 4-7" coating into Boston by later Sunday night into Monday likewise.

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO OVERSPREAD WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS AND CONNECTICUT
AFTER MIDNIGHT...AND REACH THE COASTAL SECTIONS BY DAYBREAK ON
MONDAY. THE SNOW MAY QUICKLY BECOME HEAVY AND THE POTENTIAL EXISTS
FOR BETWEEN 4 AND 7 INCHES OF SNOW ACCUMULATION.
AT THIS TIME...THE HEAVIEST PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO FALL

I live in northcentral and we have a winter storm warning in middlesex county nj. The watch said that 4-7 inches are possible tonight and another inch by morning bringing totals in the 5-8 range. By the timie the warm air gets in the area, the storm should end or be ending so a change to drizzle or very light rain is only possible. Temperatures are told to stay 31-32 degrees until about 3:00 p.m where they will rise to upper 30's but the storm should be winding down by then. The forecast calls for a wintry mix throughout the day on Monday but temperatures will be at least 32 so it may stay as snow.

Warming up too quickly in Fredericksburg area already up to 35.8 at 10:18, looks to be another non event in this area. Even with some evaporational cooling possible, temps are warming at least at the surface. Snow not too far away on radar. Oh well, we will see.

It might be mostly snow there in north central Jersey, but even if it's 31 or 32 degrees at the surface, temperatures aloft early Monday will likely warm above freezing which brings the prospects for a changeover from 4-7 inches of snow to a sleet/frez rain combo for Monday. It may end as rain along the coast up to NYC. But interior north central Jersey should remain frozen the entire time until it ends.

By Monday am, it maybe rain from Baltimore south and a transition from fredrick to Belair to a mix and eventually rain before ending. But snow will likely be on the ground especially in grassy areas Monday am in fredrick and Belair. I only live an hour away from Fredrick and about 30-40 minutes away from Belair.

We have a Winter Storm Warning now for tonight into tomorrow morning with 3 - 5 inches of snow expected before turning to freezing rain and rain.

It's still in the mid - upper 30's right now. They're still calling for 3 - 5 inches of snow but i think it will be lower than that. We're not supposed to get any ice either. It's supposed to change to all rain.
