Northwest Providence County, RI

Winter Storm Watch:

Issued at: 2:44 PM EST 2/27/05, expires at: 11:00 PM EST 2/27/05

Winter storm watch continues in effect from Monday afternoon to tuesday morning,
The NWS in taunton ma has issued a winter storm watch.
Snow is forecast to overspread the region late Monday afternoon and may become heavy at times before nightfall. Snow will continue into tuesday morning and may mix sleet and with rain for a time along the coast. Increasing northeast winds will also accompany this storm system. Wind gusts could approach 50 mph for a time Tuesday morning and may create limited visibilities less than one half mile. In addition the combination of heavy precipitation and strong wind gusts cause scattered power outages.
There remains some uncertainty as to the exact track of the storm. The potential still exists for a snowfall of 6 or more inches across the area, especially if the storm takes a more easterly track.
A winter storm watch is issued for the potential of a snowfall of 6 or more inches in the next 12 hours or for ice accretion of 1/2 inch or greater. Anyone traveling in the next 24 to 36 hours should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to modify travel plans should winter weather develop.
