2/27-3/01 storm observations

Just wanted to see if this catches on...

Currently in chapel hill, nc

temp: 37.8 F
dewpoint: 36 F
wind: ENE at 6mph

raining steadily, but snow has been reported in the northwest bordering county

Add Dublin VA as well - vis down to a mile at 10 PM but the automated station doesn't have a precip discriminator...

radar appears to show rain in places where some of the stations indicating snow...

yeah, the radar algorithm they use is really bad sometimes, especially when the sounding profiles become isothermal. I looked at the GSO sounding, it had 1 C at 850 and -5 at 700 mb. The radar thinks this is too warm for snow.

Figured they could be able to measure it better with all the technology we have.

if this storm were to slow down to maybe 6 hours than the snow totals could be incredible, 18-24 maybe, If the high were strong enough it could slow the storm down a bit, but this one looks to be fast

yeah - i don't like the back edge of the shield already in SC; the direction of rotation may prolong a bit but it seems to be drying out well below...

Still alot of moisture there and it hasnt bombed yet or combined with the other systems yet either. Time will tell.

In Arlington VA, snow began sticking to cars about 1:30 pm, on untreated pavement and some bridges about 2:30 pm, on treated sidestreets about 3 pm. About 1 inch so far.
