NO SNOW FOR CHARLOTTE,N.C. THIS YEAR !!!!

#1 Postby JETSTREAM BOB » Wed Mar 02, 2005 9:57 am

Weather Pattern not looking promising for any wintry precip this season in the S.E. as the N.E. hoards all the snow.....Mountain areas in S.E. only benefiting as storms barrel up the east coast......... .. Weather pattern to stay active through the month of March, but no snow for The Greater Charlotte Area...........JSB :me?:

There is still at least 10 days of hope for Western and central NC. A deep trough in march means Alberta clippers running around everywhere. With this deep of a trough anyone from SC northward has a shot of getting some snow.

Friday: Partly cloudy, with a high around 59. Calm wind becoming west between 5 and 10 mph.

Friday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers. Partly cloudy, with a low near 42. West wind around 5 mph.

Saturday: A 20 percent chance of showers. Partly cloudy, with a high around 63. West wind between 10 and 15 mph.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 38.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high around 59.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 37.

Monday: Partly cloudy, with a high near 61.

Monday Night: A 30 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low near 44.

Tuesday: A 40 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high around 56.

Tuesday Night: A chance of rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Wednesday: A slight chance of rain and snow showers. Partly cloudy, with a high near 46. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

For what it's worth, I'm still not ruling out the possibility of an ice storm this month. Everything seems to be in place for a CAD event, with the cold air coming down from the north and the moisture streaming up from the south. Just have to get the right timing for both!

Based on latest data and guidance, it still looks very promising for snow from about latitude 35 north up. A clipper will come through the mid-atlantic tomorrow, followed by a bigger clipper Monday. However, this bigger one will deliver some pretty chilly air for March deep into the South. Then things get interesting, both the Euro, GFS and many other models show 2, 3 or even 4 clippers (wednesday 3/9 on) that are all cold enough and have enough moisture to give snow to NC. However, with these clippers, a lot will depend on timing. If the precip comes in during the afternoon, forget about any snow due to the strong march sun.
