WOW Helen. How sweet. Did you like it? I saw that observation from Norfolk earlier too depicting heavy snow and a thunderstorm. Needless to say a wild day. I bet you liked it alot.

We had heavy wet snow for an hour or two earlier today. No thunder occurred, but wind gusts were 50-55 mph earlier this evening here in central Maryland. Imagine the Chesapeake Bay and adjacent rivers covered in loads of freezing spray just because of gale force wind with gusts to storm force. Truly a wild situation. Out in the exposure of the wind, I bent my knees just to stand up straight and in place. Amazing indeed.

Our next problem on the marine areas wil be possible blowout tides tomorrow with tides 2-3 feet below normal possible on Chesapeake Bay, Delaware Bay, and also the Jersey shore and Long Island.

Thundersnow isnt that uncommon here; ive seen it a few times. The sheer intensity and brevity of todays storm was unusual though. We had near whiteout conditions in Hampton for about 30 minutes with winds easily gusting to 50 mph. an hour later the sun was out.
