The PDO is now negative, after dropping four straight months. It would appear that the assumption of a positive PDO is a false assumption. Snowwizzard did research, and in the years where the PDO was near -0.50 in September after dropping four straight months, the NW was quite cold. I am not saying this will happen, but if you assume a warm NW because of a warm PDO, you will have to rethink things.

This does not give PDO "numbers", but it shows what looks much more like a negative PDO then a positive PDO, with cooler waters along the BC/WA/Oregon coast, and warmer waters way to the west, which is characterisitc of negative PDO.
