Is there a winter Mexican Plume over TEXAS? or what?

I know in the Summer we have a Mexican Plume that blocks us from rain and thunderstorm development. But is there some plume over us in the winter preventing us from getting rain? or Cold?
Why does everything seem to get blocked and kicked out to our North and East? Its like rain and cold are heading straight head on to us and then the last minute get blocked? Can someone explain what might be happening?
Its hard to drink hot chocolate in 80's weather...I never cook my TExas Chili until it at least gets below 50 in the daytime. The way its going so far, I'll be making ice cream instead.

Its early in the season. Texas doesn't usually get those Blue Norther type systems that bring cold straight down into that state until winter proper.

The cold will come. I think part of why we think it will never come is because we see pictures on TV or hear stories of how cold it is getting in other parts of the country. And this is happening while we are decorating our house for Christmas wearing shorts and with the A/C on.

Usually when we have an average or warm Thanksgiving period, we have a cold Christmas/New Years. I'll make that trade of any day. Besides most of our nasty cold down in Texas usually don't come till January and February.

ccx you are very correct, warm turkey day can mean cold at Christmas New Years day.
I just want cooler temps more in the 40's or even 50's don't like it in the upper 60's 70's and even an 80 or so day in Dec.
My sister said for me to move up here way if I want cold and snow. HOmer Alaska got about 5 ft of snow last week. She said it has been much colder up there this year....I'm not too smart on the weather, but do know that a pattern of Cold Alaska or Canada and soon or later it oozes down our way. So if they warm up, we'll soon be cooling down.
I like the NTX NWS in their discussion have finally mentioned they might have to change the highs on Weds from 50's to the 30's for daytime temps. I was also surprised to find accuweather hasn't changed. Usually they are the ones to jump the gun and have us much colder than what the NWS So we will have to wait and see. I still want to fix my Texas Chili, maybe middle of next week would be good. Better on a weekend for our hot chocolate concession business at the christmas light display.
