Major Arctic Outbreak February 15-20th
It looks like a major outbreak of arctic air is on tap for the northern plains, central plains and upper mississippi valley feb 15-20, with the coldest air over the northern plains. Watch out, this could go down in the record books.

I agree with you 100%. That's when the motherload of cold air will invade the lower 48. Also, look for a major southern plains( Northern Texas, Arkansas, NW Louisiana, Western Tennessee, into Ohio valley) winter storm during that time frame as the SE ridge tries to resist the pressing cold air.

Yep I agree I think there will be a major southern plains winter storm with this arctic blast as some energy from the west/southwest tries to make it eastward on the tail end of the arctic front. I think an area from east/northeast texas, arkansas, oklahoma and into the tennessee and ohio valleys will get a nice dumping of snow and ice from this.

I still have my hopes up though. Tomball has hit 20 in early March before and IAH has hit 22. Also, in the 1930s, it snowed an inch in Houston during early/mid March. By late March though...winter will be on the exit and svr. storm season will be arriving.Tyler wrote:Too bad this isn't all happening in January, as we'd have a better chance at getting in on some of this. Time is ticking, and eventually it will be too late for the cold air to make it this far wouth.
