northeast situation colder than forecast?

#1 Postby cpdaman » Sat Jan 13, 2007 10:06 pm

it seems the northeast is going to be in for some intresting weather over the next 48-60 hours (thru tues morn)

there is supposed to be a bit or precip hitting the area tonite thru early afternoon tomorrow

and then a stronger low on monday aft and nite

what i would like to highlight is the idea that temps are more unpredictable than usual in a situation like this, and there is a cold front draped south of new england and it is a cold arctic front with high pressure sliding down from quebec, and i beleve the temps are going to be colder than currently forecast. currently it is ZERO degress in northern maine and this cold air is bleeding down. i just dont see the temps in the lower levels getting warmer tomorrow under cloud cover and a north or nne flow south coastal maine is in the 20's with dewpoints falling thru the teens

it appears the temperatures this afternoon confirm my statements last nite that it may be colder than normal in the northeast

temps at boston are 32 degrees currently down from 37 this morning precip will be moving in around 6 pm and i beleive the northeast is going to have a bit of snow and ice this evening and tonite with lesser amounts in sw new england and probably mostly ra
in south of plymouth ma to new bedford, ma to south coastal conn, and RI

doesn't anyone live in the NE that is intrested in the first winter storm of the year

I am - but I'm in the Mid Atlantic.

I saw that my temps will be in the 30's come Tuesday and a high of only 29 on Wednesday!

Going to be interesting tonight/Monday

#4 Postby miamiwxgal » Sun Jan 14, 2007 2:58 pm

Looks like northern Mass is in for some interesting weather tonight into Monday. There was a thin glaze outside when I awoke this morning...it will be interesting to see where exactly the ice/snow transition area will finally be. Right now it looks like here in Fitchburg it should be frz rain, sleet and then finally change over to snow. Winter Storm Watches are now up! I'm excited!

Be safe everyone!
