I guess you could consider me a midwest person. I live in Pittsburgh now but close enough. We just got upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning.

http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/goes/east/nwatl/loop-avn.html

looks to me like coastal getting going a bit a head of schedule thanks to OLGA's remmnats sucking moisture out of the GOM ( coastal appears to be 50 SW of cape hatteras)

heavy snow around detroit is abating as well as general radar return in the midwest except back near upper low over kansas city and central illinois

also locale's in the mountains of NC were suppose to have freezing rain, yet they are snowing moderately at boone and jefferson so not sure about the mid level warming there as coastal seems to be deepending rather fast to their east. North east could be in for a surprise and midwest for a let down (if they like snow). Me, i'm in FL and waiting for some serious squalls that appear in the deep convection in the E GOM.

The action is starting here in southern Ontario. The snowflakes are a odd size and that is a dead give-away to a winter storm heading up from the south.

I just talked to our son in Michigan,he's just south of Flint. He said they have 5-6 inches and are supposed to get another 5-8 before the end of today. It's windy too. Michigan being our home state,I can honestly say I don't miss that stuff at all!

I went out to measure and we got 7.5 inches 8-)
My 4 year old went out bundled up first thing this morning to "swim" through the snow. There is nothing... absolutely nothing more beautiful than a little toddlers reaction to lots of snow. She was dancing, making snow angles, tossing it in the air and shouting yippieeeee and trying to catch it with her tounge after throwing it up too! and singing for 45 minute in pure snowy HAPPY-ness.
Wish I had been able to get it on film but forgot to charge the batteries.

yeah! i heard thunder around noon or just after , but only one rumble. Its weird to hear thunder during snow, i know ive heard it before it years past, but the sounds does get muffled out.
After a brief slight lull an hour ago, the snow has now re-intensified over mid-town Toronto, extreme blowing and drifting, virtual whiteout condition again, winds have shifted direction to more north westerly from the looks of the direction of the snow falling. I have no idea how much has really fallen becuase of the winddriven huge piles.

I'm in Beaver county just across the line. We had a warning here. Was later dropped back down to a Winter Weather Advisory.

Some nice totals there. Very jealous of those of your lightening/thunder during the snow storm. Was telling a friend that it might be possible with this system and she was very surprised. She didn't know there could be thunder with with snow.
