NC drought

#1 Postby JQ Public » Fri Sep 30, 2005 8:04 pm

We're about 6" below normal in the rain bucket this year so the Raleigh city gov't enacted some water conservency methods for this month. People aren't listen so they may make them mandatory soon. Anyone else in the southeast experiencing this? Its sad, alot of trees are drying up around here or dropping their leaves entirely when it hasn;t even been cold yet. OH well I hope this changes soon so we can have a nice fall show!

We actually had a very wet spring/summer in the western part of the state, but it has been dry since late August/early September - with a couple of brief exceptions. It's trying to get cool - but a little behind schedule and weak at the moment. Leaf season here might be good. I'm guessing peak for higher elevations (say above 4000ft) the 2nd weekend in October and here in Asheville (+/- 2200 feet) the 3rd weekend in October.

Yay! Its been raining quite moderately here since late thursday. I think we've gotten about an inch. (I don't know how much we've received since friday night). Sadly my trip to Boone ended up being a washout, but I must say Appalachian State University has to be one of the most beautiful campuses I've ever seen. Puts NCSU to shame. But then again its a nice place to visit, but I wouldn't wanna live there. Glad to see the rain around here though:)

Checked my gauge this morning and it's over 2 inches! :) My Dad can read better the particular gauge that we have so will post here an official amount a bit later today. :)
