More Flooding tonight and into the weekend...
this happened yesterday but I thought to begin a discussion on it anyway. parts of the Northeast recieved 5 to 10 inches of rain Friday night into Sunday morning. 10.5 inches was recorded here in Keene, NH and extreme flooding occured. 30 to 40% of the city was under water yesterday. more rains are forecasted this week and flooding could once again be a major concern. 4 people have been reported dead with others missing. go to http://www.wmur.com for more

I was in WMass this weekend -- constant rain, flooding reported in a few areas with river issues...but where I was in the valley, significant flooding is pretty much not going to happen unless the polar ice caps melt.
Raining all night in Worcester tonight (heavy rain right now actually)...but again, the topography makes significant flooding where I am impossible.
Good luck in Keene...

editted the title to fit current situation...
we are seeing heavier rains than we did over the weekend right now in Keene. however they arent going to last for two days. I just recorded 1.1" of rain in one hour. in the past 3 days I have recorded 2.75" of rain. looks like its winding down right now and only light to moderate rains into Saturday with possibly an additional inch or so before its done Saturday night. however the action is just starting up for some people here in Keene with evacuations happening as I type. my yard is under approximately 4 inches of water right now however my basement is fairing well.
here's some more on the flooding in Keene: http://www.thewmurchannel.com/news/5101232/detail.html

Hi Tri-State_1925. Hope you are okay and are up on one of the hills... But you are now in a state of emergency there in Worcester... Significant flooding in Worcester. "not "impossible," alas!

I have been thinking of my neighbors to the north also. I was very relieved when the rain pulled out of here, but then I saw that it headed for southern Vermont, where it wasn't needed any more than it was needed here. I hope everyone fared ok.
Lots of flooding in town here, I hear we made national news! Fortunately for me it didn't come up quite as far as the house. I hope everyone is ok!

Thanks Persepone. Yesterday was trecherous. I had a cross country meet and it was pouring rain with tons of mud and huge puddles on the ground. I'm surprised that only a few people were injured because the course was really dangerous with all the water.
last night was incredible! the skies cleared and the winds picked up and the moon was huge and bright. this morning the sun was actually out for the first time in over a week! we were blinded lol. now the clouds are back and scattered showers and moving in from the north and west with gusty winds. at least the winds are helping to dry things off a bit. my family and I faired alright because we live in a higher portion of Keene. in the newspaper this morning it said that over 1000 people had to evacuate in Keene. most likely the waters are receding quickly though and hopefully the people whose homes are still intact will be able to get back to their homes. for those whose homes were destroyed at least we have decent shelters opened up for them.
a catastrophic situation could be setting up for next weekend however. TD 24 (Wilma) could affect New England in a week or so. if that would happen, terrible flooding would occur. the chances right now though are slim for Wilma to affect us. the possibility is brought up in the Taunton NWS forecast discussion however it appears that current thinking is that Wilma will head out to sea south and east of the region.
I became a NWS skywarn spotter last spring. all this past summer nothing happened in Keene to report. well last weekend was my first report. wow what a way to start: with my report being the figure read in many newspapers. more reports were made yesterday. and the figure for the past nine days was 15.75 inches of rain!: average for 4 to 5 month period!
