I've been out of commission for three days with a really bad cold, so my mental fog this morning was most appropriately matched by what's a pretty rare phenomenon down here - a very thick fog which persisted several hours after sunrise.
That set me to pondering just why this would be so rare in this area (but sadly my brain is taking a lot longer to clear out than the skies are, so my pondering isn't making much progress).
If this is an easy question for one of the mets to answer, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise, it'll make a nice subject for some independent study at a later date.
