Hm, have you seen a strong Tornado, yet ? Tha´s what i´d liked to do.

Here in Hamburg City it´a little different - when flash is announced, everybody cares, because that is THE problem here.

I have been in two tornadoes both when I was fairly young. One was a weak little F0/F1 and the other was an F4 storm. We didn't take a direct hit but the house to our south had its second floor wiped out. Most of thehouses south of us were severely damanged and by the end of the street there was some significant damage. About 1/8th of a mile away the tornado was at its F4 strength where it completely destroyed just about everything. My dad called us out of the bathroom to see the storm basically destroy the house about 1/4 of a mile behind our house. All in all an impressive memory that I still remember pretty clear and I was only 4 or 5 at the time.

Hm, this i can imagine. Are you from OKC ? Storms from US are sometimes reported in german TV, i think its impressive so that damages and fatalities are often forgotten.
We had a supercell over our county ´93. Was so hot in the evening and my eyes were flashed because of so many lightningstrikes. And this afternoon soccerclub Bremen beat up Bayern Munich 3-1 and got champion. Ahhhhhhhh, i´ll never forget.

the winds behind this front in Texas have been quite strong. The winds have been shaking the house and windows and the gusts are quite loud. These kind of post-front winds are more common during the winter...not in May! Latest airport reports indicate gusts to 35mph at IAH, but I would estimate that a few gusts have been even higher, probably past 40mph.

Here is the latest Day 2 discussion from the SPC for eastern TX:

...ERN TX/SRN AR/LA...
STRONGER CAP FURTHER WEST ACROSS LA INTO TX IS EXPECTED TO PRECLUDE
THUNDERSTORM DEVELOPMENT UNTIL SATURDAY EVENING ALONG/N OF
STATIONARY BOUNDARY...AND APPROACHING COLD FRONT. INCREASING SWLY
LLJ/WAA ACROSS ERN TX AND MOISTENING LOW LEVEL AIR MASS EXPECTED TO
RESULT IN SUFFICIENT DESTABILIZATION FOR ELEVATED THUNDERSTORMS AS A
SHORT WAVE TROUGH APPROACHES ERN TX/LOWER MS VALLEY SATURDAY NIGHT.
MODERATE INSTABILITY AND STRONG EFFECTIVE BULK SHEAR VALUES EXPECTED
TO SUPPORT POTENTIAL FOR ELEVATED SUPERCELLS...WITH ACTIVITY
EVOLVING INTO AN MCS AND TRACKING SE ACROSS ERN TX/LA SATURDAY
NIGHT.

A CONDITIONAL THREAT FOR SEVERE AND LOWER SEVERE PROBABILITIES EXIST
ACROSS W TX WHERE MODELS DIFFER ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF SURFACE BASED
STORMS LATE SATURDAY AFTERNOON. IF ACTIVITY DEVELOPS...THEN
INSTABILITY/SHEAR VALUES WOULD SUPPORT A FEW ORGANIZED STORMS WITH
POTENTIAL FOR UPSCALE GROWTH INTO AN MCS SATURDAY EVENING. PARTS OF
THIS REGION MAY REQUIRE AN UPGRADE IN SEVERE PROBABILITIES IN LATER
OUTLOOKS.
