Since 1 AM some parts of the Beaumont/Port Arthur areas have recieved a foot of rain since 1 AM..Storms have remained stalled over the area as weak mid level low continues over the region. This is just like having a Tropical Storm the way the rain begin during the late night hours..

What is the flooding situation in Beaumont?

The 'backbuilding' line has pushed just to my east now. Lots of thunder with the cell going up to the east now. With continued heating to our west there should me more around this afternoon...

OK, that was about the most insane weather event I've ever seen.

KFDM station in Beaumont recorded almost 15" of rain and just across the county line in Chambers county, they had right around 17" of rain. All that in less than 12 hours! What's really wild is other parts of Beaumont only saw like 1"!!

We didn't see that much rain with TS Allison a few years back!

NWS Austin/San Antonio's forecast discussion this morning suggested the upper low will migrate west over the next few days, putting us south and south central Texans more in the line for heavy to excessive rainfall.

Those rainfall amounts though from SE Texas are stunning!

JB, in his morning update suggests that some areas here in the Coastal Bend might get up to 10 inches of rain  Standing water and being on the coast mean Mesquitos and ususally the one that ignore replents. :x :x :x

We need the rain, but not that much all at once. Victoria and Beeville got over 5 on Saturday.

What's the difference between a landspout tornado and your regular tornado?
