Has anyone noticed that Hooks airport in Tomball has been reporting Fog/Mist Haze for the better part of the day? I don't know where this is coming from, because there is no fog, mist or haze anywhere outside right now!

was that the ob that was reporting the fog/haze? with visibility of 10SM, there is no obscuration. you can only get HZ with visibilities of less than 7SM and fog with visibilities of less than or equal to 5/8 of a mile. there should be no weather reported in that ob.

Most likely just an error with the reporting system beings its' an automatic sensor...

Also, wall cloud, fog will still be reported with visibilities greater than 5/8 of a mile, I believe most of the sensors go by how large the particles, etc. I guess I'll have to look into that..

Ellington did something like that last week with a humidity of 100% made for some interesting dew points, and or heat indexes.
