This is getting very old(and as of now August isn't looking any cooler)... bring on the Fall.
The continental United States suffered through its second-hottest July on record because of a blistering heat wave from California to Washington, D.C. The heat wave broke more than 2,300 daily temperature records for the month and eclipsed more than 50 records for the highest temperatures in any July, according to the NOAA National Climatic Data Center in Asheville, N.C. The hottest July on record occurred in 1936, and the third hottest was 1934.

You mean...this wasn't the hottest? Other areas were way hotter than Salt Lake City from the average, and it was the second-hottest month on record here (and even then only barely).
We came .3 of a degree away from tying our warmest July on record with an average temperature of 83.1, and it was our second-hottest July on record. Our average is 77.0. We also set the record for the warmest average low temperature on record and came 1 degree away from our record high low (which is 80; we only dropped to 79 one night). It was also apparently the first month on record that the temperature never fell below 60 with a low of 62.
