Some interesting links:

What a rough period in weather history:

Andrew - 8/92
Superstorm - 3/93
Midwest Flood - Spring,Summer/93

I remember that...My family and I went on vacation to St. Louis in 1993 and we could only go as far as the Arch...no more. Everything was blocked off...the Mississippi was moving at a rapid clip...it was amazing!!!

I was also in St. Louis that summer Shannon! I was spending it with friends of the family since my mother was working out on the road at that time. It was a sight I will never forget. Thanks for posting the pics Isobar! :)

I lived in St. Louis for 26 years and remember the flood.

It was amazing. I have many pictures and even a video from top of the arch looking down at the river. We even traveled the Great River Road area and it was just awe-inspiring at the amount of water in the area. Having been used to the river in its normal path, it was very unusual to see it over flowing like it was.

The most amazing part about it is that there are places where the river actually formed new paths to meander along through!

And there are still huge areas of flood-water-filled 'lakes' all around the area, but specifically in West Alton, MO.

amazing!
