Heat Advisiory...Lincoln, NE

#1 Postby weatherwunder » Thu Jul 17, 2003 12:29 pm

Expires 7:00 PM CDT on July 17, 2003

Statement as of 9:55 am CDT on July 17, 2003

...Heat Advisory For This Afternoon Through This Evening...

High temperatures this afternoon are expected to be around 100 to 105. Combined with the high relative humidity in the area... heat indices will reach as high as 110 to 115 this afternoon. Temperatures will cool back below advisory criteria this evening.

A heat advisory is issued when high humidities... combined with hot temperatures... will make it feel like it is 105 degrees or greater for at least three hours.

The excessive heat and humidity will make a dangerous combination for individuals if proper precautions are not taken. Excessive heat kills people by taxing the human body beyond its ability to cool itself.

Consider postponing outdoor activities. Drink plenty of water or other non-alcoholic beverages and wear light colored clothing. If possible... spend more time in an air conditioned or well ventilated location

Ouch ... usually when I see heat indecies expected to reach 110º-115º, they would normally go with excessive heat advisories or warnings ...

Temperatures are cooling, and the heat advisory has been cancelled.

Another hot one on store for tommorro.

Jeff, if your Heat Advisory was in effect until 7:00 PM CDT, then it wasn't cancelled; it was in effect up to two hours, ten minutes after you post, above. :)

Okay, sorry about that Jeff. So it was cancelled prior to the 7:00 PM CDT expiration. Thanks. :)
