It was a hum-dinger!!

A goodly number of wind damage reports, (8), and 2 Tornadoes confirmed in my service area.

The ECMWF model consistently handled the the height falls progression across Louisiana, much better than the GFS did.

It also did better in latching on to a farther South latitudnal positioning of the trough axis base and nested vorticity lobe within; much, much better than GFS. GFS suddenly played catch-up at the last moment, like 12 - 24 hours in advance.

It looks like another batch of bad weather for tomorrow (Mardi Gras day) and into Wednesday morning. What do you think, cyclogenesis? Not a good Mardi Gras week with the weather!

The timing for New Orleans proper looks to be well after Midnight, late Tuesday night, March 8th.

In the meantime, during Tuesday afternoon and first half of Tuesday night, only some light showers will be passing thru. The big beef of severe weather will be well out West of New Orleans during the afternoon on Tuesday, March 8th.

The big beef (strongest storms for New Orleans), I think will be timed between 3 AM and 12 Noon during the pre-dawn & post dawn hours of Wednesday morning.

However, there will be severe weather cooking before that time, even well-before that time to the NORTH & WEST of New Orleans, where they should get harder hit up thataways, North of Lake Pontchartrain.
