**The town of Inuvik is located at Latitude 68 North....and was proclaimed the first planned town north of the Arctic Circle in 1958. Built by the government on the permafrost of the north, the town was built to be the administration center of the north. Since this time many people have moved to the area and it has become a major transportation and service center of the Western Arctic.
Located in the Arctic tundra region most of the land remains frozen year round. Only the top layer thaws during the short summer, therefore vegetation is very limited, with only short-rooted plants, lichens and shrubs able to grow there. The landscape is desolate and barren, with mountains, plains, rivers and rugged coastline creating some fascinating scenery.

Look at Fairbanks...wow...I wonder if they have A/C....

I know tireman, Fairbanks has been as hot as 99F way back on July 28 1919...including the 2 90 degree days Fairbanks has seen this month, they have been in the 90s a total of 46 times since 1904!

The minimum temp on June 26th 2013 was 70F... that's a bit more rare.... only twice since 1904 has the temps stayed in the 70s all through the overnight... the only other time was an astounding 76F on June 26 1915!

That 99F at Eureka CA is hard to believe considering that they had never even hit 90F before now.

I saw 105F, not 106F.

If the weather station is reporting correctly, a 106F was supposeldy recorded at 6 pm:

Tomorrow's report for today's high should cover the whole day including 6 PM to midnight, so it might show up as 106F tomorrow unless it was found to be inaccurate for some reason.

Edit:

Looks like the hourly still says 106F at 6 PM, but the daily high is 105F Not sure why.
