The wonder of the weather

#1 Postby coriolis » Tue Oct 14, 2003 5:25 pm

I got to watch the approaching weather system today. Here in Pennsylvania, first the high clouds arrived, signalling the approaching warm front. They were blowing in fairly rapidly from the south. Meanwhile at the surface, the winds from the east, in the wedge of (air below the front) steadily increased. It's started raining. It's 55 degrees, but tonight, it's supposed to increase into the 60's as the wind shifts to the south.

It's one thing to see the weather maps and have a concept, but it is quite another thing to go outside and see it really happening!

So true, Ed. Last night went from being a warm, dry evening with a slight breeze, to heavy rain with thunder. Being a certified weather weenie, I had to go outside in the pouring rain so I could experience it. :cheesy:
