Heat Wave for SoCal

Offshore flow coming again for southern California. Big problem with several fires burning in the area. Biggest one is near Riverside, CA. The other big one is near Camp Pendleton near the San Diego/Orange County border.

It was in the 90s earlier this week. Could approach that again, and probably exceed values seen Tuesday along the coast with temperatures probably 90+ each day Saturday and Sunday.

Have a 15C inversion right above us, so if any deep layered easterly winds come through like the ETA and AVN are forecasting, then taking the temp at the top of the inversion (about 900-950mb) and bringing it down dry adiabatically (which often occurs during Santa Ana Wind events since the air is rapidly descending down mountain peaks), talking about temperatures easily in the mid-90s. Think the NWS will need to adjust temps upward tomorrow given that there's no trace of marine layer status out there.

If you like it very hot with severe sinus allergies, LA's got it this weekend.

True, I mean from Monday to today we have only "cooled" to 87.8° from 89.5° - a full 1.7° in four days. :o This has to be the hottest October week (if not month) in recent memory. :o I have heard on the local stations that the BEACHES may exceed 90° this weekend. :o Man I am glad I have my a/c back out now.

Oh boy... I hope you guys get some relief soon and the fire problem gets dealt with and does not spread!

Extreme fire danger right now. As many people are aware, there is a huge fire burning toward the outskirts of Rancho Cucamonga, which is near Riverside, CA about 50 miles E of downtown LA. Santa Ana winds will be blowing beginning tonight and strengthen through tomorrow and peak Sunday morning when there will probably be wind advisories and high wind warnings out. Another fire just broke out near Santa Clarita (those who aren't familiar with SoCal geography, that's NNW of downtown LA toward Bakersfield. Will be a very long next few days for firefighters.

Sunlight was a strange golden today as smoke is shrouding the sky of much of the coastal plain. Felt like a perpetual sunset, but that and some unexpected morning marine layer kept the temperatures down a little today. No luck tomorrow though.

I wish we had not had that #%^&^ marine layer! Bring on the winds!
