From January to September 2003 - Much above ... some locations have already seen the normal amount of YEARLY rainfall (mine included).

Also compare totals when the rains finally came in troves for the Eastern US, generally the wettest 12 month period IME (im my estimation) (maps run one fiscal year from August 2002 - July 2003)

The map that shows the Precipitation Anomalies really brings out the area where Isabel landed. It's also good to see some of the West like Colorado up near the 100% mark too. Hopefully we'll witness more of that next year in the southern Four Corners area.

Thanks for the maps. Here in Charlotte, NC, we passed our average annual rainfall total a few months back. Although the last month or so has been drier, we could still go until May 2004 without rain and still be above normal. Great end to a 5 year drought huh? Especially for rain lovers like myself.

Definitely ... I've had a shade over 60" of rain this year so far (and that last storm dumped a total of 4.28" a few days ago)...

Amazing that Columbia, SC, before the drought ended had a shortfall of over 1½ years of rain!!!! (Talking about a 70"+ shortage for 4-5 years!)
