#1 Postby Stormsfury » Fri Dec 26, 2003 8:36 pm

...THUNDERSTORMS...

THE THUNDERSTORM IN LAS VEGAS ON THE EVENING OF THE 25TH WAS THE
FIRST DECEMBER THUNDERSTORM OBSERVED IN LAS VEGAS SINCE DECEMBER 6TH
1966 AND THE FIRST THUNDERSTORM RECORDED ON CHRISTMAS DAY SINCE
RECORDS BEGAN IN 1937.

STRONG WINDS WERE PRODUCED IN SOUTHERN NEVADA AND NORTHWEST ARIZONA
BY A COMBINATION OF THE PRESSURE DIFFERENCES AROUND THE PACIFIC
STORM AND THUNDERSTORM GUSTS. THE WINDS BLEW DOWN A CELL PHONE TOWER
AND TORE A FEW SHINGLES OFF ROOFS IN THE KINGMAN AZ AREA. WINDS AT
THE KINGMAN AIRPORT GUSTED TO 55 MPH AT 1025 PM MST. AT NELLIS AIR
FORCE BASE NEAR LAS VEGAS...WINDS GUSTED TO 49 MPH AS A THUNDERSTORM
PASSED THROUGH AT 856 PM PST.

...NON-THUNDERSTORM WINDS...

AT THE BARSTOW-DAGGETT AIRPORT...WINDS GUSTING BETWEEN 30 AND 46 MPH
HAVE BEEN REPORTED SINCE 1130 AM ON THE 25TH. THE WINDS WERE STILL
GUSTING TO 39 MPH AS OF 1108 AM THIS MORNING.

Yeah. Since it's in the 40s and 50s, AND sunny, I at least want a thunderstorm! :D
